A fireplace is a valuable, cost efficient asset. However, a fireplace can potentially cost any homeowner thousands of dollars in repairs if not properly maintained.

A fireplace contains the base material parts, pipe and cap. All of those parts must be purchased from a reputable fireplace dealer. However, rain pans and shrouds must be custom made for each specific chimney as no two chimneys are exactly alike.

SERVICES
At K&B Fabricating, Inc., we are the direct manufacturers for chimney cover materials and products. A quality chimney cover is money well spent to avoid expensive repairs or rebuilding.

A chimney cover or chimney cap can save you a lot of money in the long run. The covers keep out damaging moisture, which wears away masonry and steel chimneys. They also prevent birds and other creatures from building a home in your chimney.

PRODUCTS
Rain Pan - Located below the chimney shroud. It's purpose is to prevent excess water from draining down through the chimney into the house. Rain pans rust out. Most people do not realize they have a rain pan. This is a serious problem. To figure out if you have a problem would take a personal inspection. If your chimney is leaking, then the possibility is that you have a rain pan that is rusted out.

Rain pans are for wooded or sided chimneys only. The pan encases the top of the chimney pipe and seals around the pipe with slants to give the water a runaway from the chimney opening.

There is no such thing as a standard rain pan - they have to be custom made.

Shroud — A decorative piece that goes on top of the rain pan. (See Left)

Chimney Cap or Top — Contains no rain pan or shroud hood. Functional and decorative. ONLY for brick chimneys. The chimney caps are custom made to fit each individual chimney. Simple chimney caps found in your local Lowe's or Home Depot cover the direct chimney hole. However, K&B Fabricating custom creates chimney caps that cover your entire chimney, as well as provide a rain pan that drains excess water from precipitation.
